Talking about the Future in English (Rules, Stories, Exercises)
In English, there are several different ways to talk about the future. In other words, you can use different tenses, verb forms, and helping verbs to express a future action or state. Students may think we only use “will” to form the future tense, which is incorrect and limited.
There are 4 different ways to talk about the future In English:

Using the present progressive (present continuous)
Example: I am meeting Eliza at 4:00 tomorrow afternoon. -
Using “be going to”
Example: I am going to start eating healthier foods. -
Using the simple future (“will”)
Example: I will pay you back tomorrow. -
Using the simple tense
Example: All aboard! The train leaves in five minutes.
We use each tense/verb form to express something different.
