Topics covered in this level: Common vocabulary, simple reading practice with illustrations, the basic structure of sentences in English (focus on the simple present tense), plural forms, communication activities in English, how to use a dictionary.
End product of this level: The students know the alphabet and its spelling rules very well and can easily read. They understand the basic structure of sentences in English (subject + verb, adjectives come before the noun they describe, using a/an/the and am/is/are, there is/there are). They know how to make nouns plural (regular and common irregular nouns). They have a good foundation of common vocabulary. They can communicate in a very basic way, mainly in the simple present tense. They can successfully use a dictionary.
